How to change Vostok Bezel Tutorial

One great thing about the Vostok Amphibia, is that it is hugely customisable, which makes it widely known for being a very good ‘mod watch’. Perhaps the easiest and most common mod seen on the Amphibia is changing the Bezel, because it can transform it from a cheap looking beater into a stunning looking watch.

Today, I am going to tell you how to change the bezel, and some of my favourite types out there that you can get for these watches.

Step 1 – Acquiring a Bezel

There are a huge range of bezels for the Vostok Amphibia out there, and you can even modify the stock one to look great:

On the other hand, you could go out and buy a bezel. Some may already know of Boris Bezels on eBay, which are effectively modified Seiko bezels to fit the Amphibia, but I wanted to share my favourite kind of after market bezel which are the fully custom Bezels made by AM-Watches in Germany.

These are the bezels that are going to be used in the tutorial, and are in my opinion the highest quality you can get.

I picked a ‘Coke’ GMT bezel and a black diving bezel with golden markings for this tutorial, and I am going to show you how to fit them on your Vostok.

Step 2 – Removing the old bezel

The first thing you need to do for a bezel mod like this, is you need to remove the stock bezel on your Vostok.

This can usually be done with a case knife or even a normal swiss army knife by sliding it under the side and prying the bezel off, but please do be careful when doing this.

Once the bezel has been successfully removed as pictured above, you are ready to move onto step 2.

Step 3 – Removing the wire

When you look at the bottom of your old bezel, you will see there is a metal wire going around the inside. You will have to remove this, which can easily done by prying it out with a knife or even with your fingernails.

Step 3 – Adding the wire to the new bezel

Once you have taken the wire out, you’ll need to insert it into the small groove just like the one it was in but on the new bezel.

Be careful when doing this as the wire can easily spring out when not inserted fully and fly across the place.

Step 5 – Putting the new bezel on to your Vostok

Finally, you will need to place the bezel on top of your Vostok, and then apply pressure until it clicks into place.

That’s it, your new bezel has now been fitted!
