Question:

How old does a Watch need to be to be called Vintage?

Asked by Aaron from California.

Answer:

Thank you for your question Aaron! The short answer is that a watch will generally be considered vintage when it is 25 years old.

This is the same for old cars, if the car is 25 years old or older it is also considered vintage. This being a quarter of a century, I personally believe it to be a good age indication for ‘vintage’, however some people do not consider 25 year old watches vintage, and would look more towards 30-40+ year old watches for vintage. However, as a general guide, 25 years old is vintage for watches.
